2007 Saturday Steam Show Photos

40th Anniversary 2007!

Good Morning!  It's Saturday and officially it is DAY 2 of the SVSGEA's annual "PAGEANT of STEAM" Show!
There is lots to see and do today so get that first and second cup of coffee and head on over to the SVSGEA Clubhouse to register and get your bidding number for the annual Steam Show auction that begins precisely at 9:00 AM!
BUT --- don't get too carried away at our auction because there is LOTS to see LOTS more to DO before this day is over with!

The SVSGEA's annual Steam Show Auction draws a wide variety of used vintage and classic equipment placed up for bid. The most unique thing about this annual auction is that there are no two auctions alike. Each year's Steam Show Auction is always different from the year before.  The variety of items brought for bid each year keep getting bigger and better!
The annual SVSGEA Saturday Auction is comes under the direction of Steam Show Director Calvin Ritter, shown in photo at left, and his Committee.

Mr. Bryan Hash of Berryville, VA, shown in the photo below left,  donates his auctioneering skills each year for our auction, making this auction one of the best in this area!

Saturdays at our Steam Show are packed with lots of activities.  While the morning auction is taking place, our Steam Show Directors are also putting on the scheduled demonstrations  of our Threshing Machine and Hay Baler, which are powered by vintage gas-powered farm tractors, in addition to the many scheduled demonstrations of our Saw Mill and Shingle Mill throughout the day, both of which are powered by Steam Engines.

At 12:00 Noon on Saturday, we feature our "Parade of Power" parade where all exhibitors  ride their antique and vintage tractors and trucks down the center of the Pull Track.  Each exhibitor fills out an information sheet about his/her exhibit and is then given a number to post on the side of their machine.  As he/she rides through, our SVSGEA Club President Rick Custer announces the name of the exhibitor and recognizes the equipment he/she is riding.

Before and after the Saturday Parade, visitors can walk through the exhibitor's ring and see the many different brands and varieties of antique farm equipment on display.

Had a good time so far?  You might want to head over to the Bean Soup tent and get a steaming bowl of White Beans with some onion and cornbread!  Or maybe you just want a good ol' hotdog or a burger?  Definitely need something to drink by now?  This would be a good time to sit and rest a spell with a cool drink because we are now heading into our Saturday Night Horse Pull on the dirt pull track.

The annual Steam Show Horse Pull signals the winding down of our Saturday afternoon activities.  But we not finished yet!

As the last of the horses are led off to their trailers, we begin to hear the sounds of a banjo and a fiddle being tuned.

Yep --- It's time for our Saturday Steam Show Finale!

It's time for some good old fashion bluegrass music on the stage behind the Exhibitor's Ring!
