Welcome to our 2007 Steam Show Photo Album!

The Shenandoah Valley Steam and Gas Engine Association celebrated its 40th anniversary with the 2007 "Pageant of Steam" show.  Our 2007 show saw a record number of visitors, exhibitors, and vendors.  The Officers, Directors, and Members of the Shenandoah Valley Steam and Gas Engine Association wish to thank everyone for their support and for making 2007, our 40th Anniversary year, so special!

Throughout your visit through our 2007 "Pageant of Steam" photo album, you will notice links to Video Streams showing mini-videos of our festivities.  You will need Quicktime video player in your computer to view these video streams.  Click on the blue Quicktime link for a free download of Quicktime Video Player for Windows.

Our 2007 Show saw a record number of visitors walking through the park and enjoying the many displays of antique and vintage steam and gas-powered engines and equipment as well as browsing through the flea market and vendor areas.

A visit to our "Pageant of Steam" show is like a walk back in time and history.

We saw a record number of campers during this year's show. While our on-site campsites are primitive (without electricity and water hookups), many of the exhibitors and vendors as well as our Show visitors stay on-site during the Show in their campers and tents.  Our campsites are available on first come - first serve basis.  For camping reservation and registration information, contact Rick Custer via E-Mail at tractorman61@verizon.net  or by phone at 304-229-2101. Amy Custer can be reached at amy03@mail.com .

What would a visit to an antique steam and gas engine show be like without "something" powered by steam?  The annual SVSGEA "Pageant of Steam" show is extremely fortunate to have several steam-powered tractors and stationary steam-powered engines for demonstrations throughout the 3-day show.

Throughout our 3-day show, visitors will see many of these steam-powered tractors slowly roll through the show park and grounds, belching steam and blowing off loud blasts from their steam horns.

On Friday nights, visitors can watch these mammoth steam tractors perform during the tractor pull that features antique and vintage steam and gas-powered farm tractors and equipment.

Pictured at left is a steam-powered tractor pulling the Sawmill drive belt for one of our many Sawmill demonstrations.   During our 3-day Show, visitors will see live demonstrations of this Sawmill, a Shingle Mill cutting wood shingles, a vintage belt-driven threshing machine as well as a belt-driven hay baler.

Several truckloads of logs will be cut during our Sawmill demonstrations.

Why is that car shown at right blowing little puffs of white smoke?  How come we don't hear that car's engine?

BECAUSE ---- that car is a steam-powered automobile!

Other demonstrations during our "Pageant of Steam" show include a 1930 Frick Threshing Machine as well as a vintage belt-driven hay baler.

Each year, our Steam Show Directors and Members work together to put on demonstrations of various antique and vintage farm equipment from the farming days of yesteryear.  This group of pictures feature the SVSGEA's 1930 Frick belt-driven Threshing Machine. These pictures feature the Club's Frick Threshing Machine being powered by a John Deere A tractor.
As soon as the Threshing Machine demonstration is finished, what do we do with all of that straw laying around on the ground?  We "belt-up" another antique tractor to a 1910 Ann Arbor Hay Baler start baling hay.
Visitors can get more than just live demonstrations at the SVSGEA "Pageant of Steam' shows.  Shown here is Steam Show Director Larry Lloyd explaining how the wood separator blocks work in the 1910 Ann Arbor Hay Baler.

A visit to one of our annual shows can be a learning experience for everyone in the family.

Shown at right is the Chase Portable Shingle machine.  The Shingle Machine is belt-driven and is usually powered by SVSGEA member Charles Gray's 1915 Aultman & Taylor portable stream engine.

Mr. Gray and his steam engine are shown in the photos below and below right.
